Frentress Menz Ringer

Regular price $20.00 $0.00

These tees are the result of fabulous collab with my old print partner in crime, and fav Portland artist John Frentress.

Last year I sent John up some clean transparency sheets with a goal. Stay away from digital processes to create the feel of a hand applied art piece in a  repeatable medium. We think it worked! No halftones were harmed during this project. All plates burned to screen were created by the stroke of John's hand. These strokes combined with the vibrant water base ink make for a wonderful limited edition tee.

Side notes:

Tee is 100% cotton mens ringer from Port and Company. Nothing fancy.

You may see small evidence of artist and printer in mystifying areas and ways. Enjoy the wabi sabi!

These are a very small quantity run so we suggest to get while the gettins good.

The artist modeling (then promptly stealing!?) our 5 year old test print tee. Note the single color version in the middle.

Johns Bio: Making art since the age of 3. Studied art at Kirkwood College, Cedar Rapids Iowa with Doug Hall who was an amazing multi disciplinary artist. I went on to study and work at several schools and community education centers on the west coast. I consider myself to be primarily a “proper” art school short timer, and an auto-didactic life long learner. Like many artists, I have a BS degree in Psychology.

I  had the privilege of occupying a studio in the Blackfish gallery in the Pearl district of Portland for 19 years- sadly the building is now sitting vacant awaiting for a bulldozer. I work with brushes using oils, acrylics, sumi ink and watercolors- sometimes I paint on lightbulbs and other trash.
